Dwarven Development

The building rebalance is included in version 0.0.3, released 18 October 2026. Dwarven holds develop through forty studies, ten eight-tier ordinary building families and three three-tier duchy specializations. Ancestry and culture remain separate; building access follows the province's culture.

Develop a hold

Granaries sustain reserves; Mines finance expansion; Forges improve construction and armored equipment; Caravan Exchanges grow commerce; Clan Council Halls organize control and prestige. Homeguard Musters support resilient skirmishers, Guard Barracks train heavy infantry, and Crossbow Workshops support archers. Stone Defenses and Mountain Watchposts prepare the hold against invasion.

Ordinary III/V/VII upgrades add new services as well as larger numbers. The duchy choices specialize in civic stewardship, fortified defense or masterwork production. The ordinary guide and duchy guide list every tier, research requirement, placement rule, cost and bonus recipient.

Research and saved games

Two ordinary levels correspond to each of the four existing eras. The initial Dwarven culture history includes 34 discovered studies; later discoveries and construction still follow their normal requirements. This rebalance changes building bonuses, not starting research, era dates, unit statistics or holding history.

Fully restart CK3 after installing the mod changes. Existing saves are sufficient for the building changes. Building IDs, placement restrictions, research, gold costs and icons are preserved.
