Sidhelien Spirituality
The Sidhelien honour the living land, art and the magic of Cerilia without worshipping gods. Groves and loremasters are a CK3 institutional abstraction, not a divine priesthood.
Why choose it? Personal spiritual freedom, arcane study and kinship with the forest. Faith affects what people admire in you, your religious relationships and the rules of your realm. It does not automatically change your culture or ancestry.
Beliefs and their benefits
Arcane Understanding
The Sidhelien explore the forces inherent in the world. Their understanding grows through study and experience, without requiring divine revelation.
In play: +10% Learning lifestyle experience.
The Individual Path
Spiritual development belongs to the individual. The Sidhelien acknowledge the existence of gods without requiring their worship, and do not require every elf to follow the same spiritual path.
In play: +10% Stress lost when relieving stress.
Kinship with the Living Woods
The Sidhelien draw upon the living world of wood, water, field, and air. Their forest homes are part of that relationship, not temples to a patron god.
In play: +5 Forest advantage. No construction cost or time penalty.
What believers admire
Virtues: Patient, Scholar, Temperate.
Sins: Greedy, Kinslayer.
Virtuous traits improve how fellow believers see you and contribute to piety; sinful traits work against that reputation. A good ruler for one faith may be a poor role model for another.
Rules of the faith
| Topic | What it means for your character |
|---|---|
| Religious relations | The faith window shows the default religious attitude; the special patron relationships below can change it. |
| Spiritual outlook | Elves acknowledge the gods without being required to worship them. |
| Religious leadership | There is no single head of this faith. |
| Gender | Men and women can govern on equal terms. |
| Other believers | A more tolerant religious stance. Conversion is harder, and religious difference is less harshly treated. |
| Temple holdings | Religious holdings are managed by the clergy. |
| Marriage | You may have one spouse. |
| Divorce | Divorce is freely available. |
| Children outside marriage | All children are legitimate; no bastard status or legitimisation is required. |
| Marriage between relatives | Cousin marriage is permitted; closer relatives are restricted. |
| Same-sex relations | Accepted by the faith. |
| Male adultery | Disapproved of, rather than a religious crime. |
| Female adultery | Disapproved of, rather than a religious crime. |
| Kinslaying | Killing close family is a religious crime. |
| Deviancy | Deviancy is accepted by the faith. |
| Witchcraft | Accepted by the faith. This does not automatically grant Arcane training. |
| Clergy role | The clergy emphasise charity and keeping communities peaceful. |
| Who can be clergy | Both men and women. |
| Clerical marriage | Clergy may marry. |
| Appointing clergy | Appointments are spiritual and for life; you cannot freely replace the officeholder. |
| Spiritual journeys | Travel and discovery are personal paths, rather than obligatory worship at temples. |
| Funerals | Burial honours the dead with a quiet, restrained ceremony. |
| Anointing rulers | Rulership does not use a religious anointment tradition. |
Before you plan your campaign
The mod does not yet provide a complete Cerilian holy-site network. Do not choose this faith solely for a pilgrimage destination or holy-site bonus you expect from the setting.
Personal tenets: current implementation
The effects listed above are faith-wide benefits. Adopting a personal tenet now grants the following additional bonuses:
| Personal tenet | Additional bonuses while adopted |
|---|---|
| Arcane Understanding | +2 Learning; +15% Arcane lifestyle experience. |
| Kinship with the Living Woods | +2 Martial; +2 Prowess; +3 Forest advantage; +3 Taiga advantage. |
| The Individual Path | +2 Diplomacy; +2 Intrigue; -15% Stress gain. |
These bonuses belong to the adopted personal tenet, not automatically to every follower. Normal personal-tenet slot limits still apply. Arcane experience boosts existing Arcane training; it does not grant the class. Eligibility requires a faith with the Sidhelien worldview. Native personal-tenet modifiers manage the bonuses when a tenet is adopted or removed.
The existing faith-wide +10% Learning lifestyle experience, +10% Stress loss and +5 Forest advantage remain. Living Woods' construction cost and time penalties have been removed. These changes are implemented in development source; static checks passed, but adoption, removal and experience gain still need in-game testing. Restart CK3 and test with an existing save.
The faith icon and piety display now use the current CK3 faith-window click handler. Restart CK3 after updating; existing saves are suitable for testing. Opening the window still needs in-game confirmation.
