Faith of Moradin

Moradin's hammer and anvil

Moradin, the Soul Forger and Dwarffather, is the creator and patron of the dwarven people. His followers honour skilled craftsmanship, fair judgment, sacred family bonds and care for the aged and infirm. His forge-priests teach the young and bless mining, smithing and engineering.

Why choose it? Build a capable steward, support your clan and defend mountain holds. Anyone may worship Moradin; faith does not change your ancestry or culture. His priests must have Dwarven Blood and satisfy the usual appointment requirements.

Beliefs and their benefits

The starting faith now has three custom tenets. These replace the earlier Communal Identity, Legalism and Ritual Hospitality placeholders.

Soul Forger's Craft

Soul Forger's Craft

Moradin shaped our people at his forge. We honour the Soul Forger through patient study, honest workmanship and the teaching of every new generation. A well-made tool and a soundly built hall are offerings worthy of his name.

In play: +10% Stewardship lifestyle experience for believers; -5% construction gold cost in counties following the faith. The county effect applies where construction takes place, rather than to every county owned by a Moradinite ruler.

Bonds of the Clan

Bonds of the Clan

No dwarf stands alone. The clan cares for its aged and infirm, guides its young and settles disputes with fair judgment. Shared labour and steadfast kindness bind our households together, giving every soul a place beside the hearth.

In play: +10% stress loss for believers. This increases stress removed; it does not reduce stress gained.

Keepers of the Holds

Keepers of the Holds

Our ancestral halls shelter the living and preserve the work of those who came before us. Moradin calls us to guard their gates with discipline and courage. The mountain's strength belongs to those who prepare its defenses and stand together when danger comes.

In play: +2 Advantage in mountains and +2 Advantage in desert mountains. The bonus follows battle terrain; it does not create an underground terrain type.

Personal tenet benefits

All three are eligible personal-tenet choices for followers of the Dwarven Religion, subject to the game's normal personal-tenet selection rules. These are additional effects when chosen personally, not automatic bonuses for every believer.

Personal tenet Additional character effects
Soul Forger's Craft +2 Stewardship; +10% Stewardship lifestyle experience.
Bonds of the Clan +2 Diplomacy; -15% stress gain.
Keepers of the Holds +2 Martial; +2 Prowess; +3 mountain Advantage; +3 desert-mountain Advantage.

What believers admire

Virtues: Just, Diligent and Compassionate.

Sins: Arbitrary, Lazy and Greedy.

Craftsmanship and fair dealing are religious duties; neglecting dependants or exploiting the clan conflicts with Moradin's teaching.

Rules of the faith

Topic What it means for your character
Religious leadership No single head of faith.
Gender Men and women can govern on equal terms.
Religious stance Righteous. Moradin's identity treats Torozan and Kartathok as Evil.
Belief Polytheist.
Temple holdings Managed by the clergy.
Marriage One spouse; divorce is allowed.
Children outside marriage Legitimisation is required.
Marriage between relatives Cousin marriage is permitted; closer relatives are restricted.
Same-sex relations and adultery Shunned, rather than religious crimes.
Kinslaying Killing close family is a religious crime.
Deviancy Criminal.
Witchcraft Accepted. This does not grant Arcane training.
Clergy Both men and women; may marry. Priests require Dwarven Blood.
Appointing clergy Temporal appointment: rulers appoint and dismiss religious officials under the usual restrictions.
Pilgrimage Encouraged; the Cerilian holy-site network remains unfinished.

Dwarven ancestry forbids the Arcane class and realm casting. Moradin worship alone does not add or remove racial magic restrictions. Elven race traits exclude the Divine class in character creation.

Balance and current availability

The bonuses use the same scale as other implemented racial faiths: 10% lifestyle or stress effects, small construction savings and modest terrain advantages. Keepers of the Holds uses the Orog terrain scale; its personal skill bonuses parallel the Sidhelien woodland tenet. This is an authored CK3 adaptation of Moradin's themes. Campaign balance and live rendering remain unverified.

Current development checkout, updated 11 October 2026. These changes are not a claim that an existing beta archive or Workshop upload has been rebuilt. Fully restart CK3 and use new-game setup to verify Moradin's starting tenets. Existing saves can retain their saved faith or rite configuration.
