The Faith of Torozan

Torozan, the Oroglord, is the infernal patron of the orogs. He prizes ingenuity and slyness in pursuit of military victory. His powerful Battle-Priests train warriors, advise generals, and command the allegiance of entire tribes. Their authority rests on warcraft and the battle magic they continually practice. Torozan reserves his deepest hatred for Moradin, the Dwarffather. Other divine struggles concern him chiefly when an alliance can advance that ancient war. His followers revere the Sword and Horn and honor victory won through cunning as well as force.

Why choose it? Orog ambition, difficult terrain and victory through cunning. Faith affects what people admire in you, your religious relationships and the rules of your realm. It does not automatically change your culture or ancestry.

Beliefs and their benefits

Warmongering

Faith and war go hand in hand. One who refuses to fight in the name of the divine cannot be called a true believer.

In play: +10% Accolade glory gain; +1 Prowess per piety level; +5% Men-at-arms damage.

Masters of the Deep

The deep earth is refuge, fortress, and resource. A fortified gate and a carefully worked seam of iron sustain the tribe as surely as a victory in the field. In the Rite of the Deep, oaths are sworn before stone, flame, iron, and the Sword and Horn. We shape the mountain so that its strength becomes our own.

In play: +2 Mountains advantage; +2 Desert mountains advantage; -5% Mountains construction gold cost; -5% Desert mountains construction gold cost.

Victory Through Cunning

Before the Blessing of the Host, our Battle-Priests inspect weapons, supplies, and plans. At the First Edge, a new warrior learns that a blade carries responsibility to the tribe. A captured weapon becomes an Offering of Iron, to be dedicated or reforged. After defeat comes a reckoning: we study our mistakes, for wasteful fury teaches nothing. Preparation, patience, and warcraft make strength victorious.

In play: +10% Martial lifestyle experience.

What believers admire

Virtues: Brave, Deceitful, Diligent, Patient, Pilgrim, Shrewd, Zealous.

Sins: Craven, Deviant, Impatient, Kinslayer, Lazy, Trusting.

Virtuous traits improve how fellow believers see you and contribute to piety; sinful traits work against that reputation. A good ruler for one faith may be a poor role model for another.
