Birthright: Cerilia player guide

Build a dynasty with divine blood, choose your ruler's training and lead the people of Cerilia. Start with what you want to play: a conquering warrior, a priestly ruler, a wealthy merchant or an arcane scholar.

Create a ruler you understand

  • Traits — what every new trait means for your character.
  • Bloodlines — choose your divine inheritance and understand its strength.
  • Bloodpowers — find your powers, their bonuses and how to use them.
  • Classes and paths — compare four classes and read all twelve perk paths.
  • Races of Cerilia — expand a race for culture, ancestry, bonuses, research by era and building unlock tables.
  • Faiths — beliefs, benefits, virtues, sins and religious rules.

Run your realm

  • Enchant an item — use a courtier, advisor, or vassal, or your own Arcane/Divine training; choose bonuses, costs, and ritual risks. Released in 0.0.3 on 18 October 2026.
  • Adventuring and your band — recruit buddies with +50 opinion and face ten quests for gold and RP in version 0.0.3.
  • Regency Points — earn, save and spend your bloodline's power.
  • Trade and investment — markets, county improvements and negotiated alliances.
  • Armies — cultural troops and the upkeep of special regiments.
  • Research and buildings — what you can build and what research unlocks it.

What to expect from this version

v0.0.3 — Realms & Strongholds was released on 18 October 2026. This Early Beta includes the racial building rebalance, Source holdings and camps, racial packages, adventures, item enchanting and Court Wizard services. Declared CK3 version: 1.20.1.1. A complete Cerilia map, later Human progression and Source/Ley Line realm-spell integration remain unfinished.

The next development target is 0.1.0; primogeniture from the start belongs to that upcoming update.

For installation and version details, see Getting started and Releases. Modders can use the development notes.

Regency and holdings

Planned for version 0.1.0. Castles, towns, temples and Sources grant +0.10/+0.20/+0.30/+0.50 base RP per month at levels I–IV. Sources have four playable levels. The separate annual payment is 1–2 RP. Direct ownership, occupation, bloodline storage and Source class requirements are explained in Monthly holding Regency.

Castle / Town / Temple / Source

Tier Monthly Regency
1 +0.10 RP
2 +0.20 RP
3 +0.30 RP
4 +0.50 RP

Castles, towns and temples pay their direct blooded holder, regardless of class or culture. Vassal holdings do not pay their liege. Occupied holdings pay nothing. Income updates monthly and respects bloodline storage capacity; settlement income has no additional cap.

Sources have four playable levels. They require a landed, blooded Arcane holder with an initialized bloodline score for RP. Their six support chains also have four levels and require the matching primary level. Source income alone retains its shared 4 RP/month cap; Chambers multiply local base RP before that cap. No gold or levies. No realm spells or ley lines.

The separate annual payment rolls 1 or 2 RP with equal probability, for both player and AI blooded characters. Storage capacity still applies. Hunt and feast rewards keep their existing rules.

CK3 compatibility

Compatible with Crusader Kings III 1.20.1.2 (Crozier). V0.1.0 is the current Birthright release; V0.2.0 is the development version. The compatibility declaration has been updated from 1.20.1.1 to match the current game. Restart the Paradox launcher after updating the mod.
